This exquisite jewel sits on the shores of Pender Harbour. The owners’ long association with the area reflects their love of a relaxed, marine-inspired lifestyle. This stunning family home was transformed through a renovation.

This redesign created two self-contained suites on separate levels. A top suite offers an open concept floor plan with an extensive covered deck, pulling it into the heart of the home. The downstairs suite offers ample space and a separate deck for the private enjoyment of guests. Both suites display expansive views of Pender Harbour from every room.

The home’s front entry and oceanside decks are a hybrid of timber frame and post and beam style construction using timbers cut from Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar. The timbers are handcrafted in the traditional old-world method of custom wood joinery. Strong, heavy timber frame is both functional and beautiful. Technically part of the frame structure of the house, the big timbers bring a feature element to the design.

This beautiful home demonstrates the effect of a well-designed renovation, keeping the basic structure (walls, roof and foundation) while updating the home’s look and feel.

This renovation gives the owners a home they love and that suits their lifestyle. All this without the full cost of building a new home.
